Heir of the Covenant

About Me

Well, I thought that you might as well know something about the guy who's website you're visiting.  I Don't really have many picture of myself (or my family, unfortunately), but I'll do the best I can to give you a window into my life.  I guess if a picture speaks a thousand words, then I had better write a lot! :-)  I (Nathan Carter Johnson) was born at Erlanger Hospital on June 22, 1992.  Funny, story, actually.  There is a girl at my church with the last name of Johnson that happened to have been born on the same day as I, and happened to have taken my mother's birthing room by mistake. :-)  I've lived in the same house in Dayton, Tennessee my entire life and I absolutely love it!  I've got two brothers, see here.  The one with dark hair is Evan Breese (He's three year older than I) and the one in the hat is Benjamin Allred (He's five years older than I).  They are both really cool and fun to be around.  Evan goes to Bryan college (he's a senior and is majoring in History--perhaps going to graduate school and becoming a history professor) and Benj graduated from Bryan last year..  It's been weird not having them around as much, but I see them occasionally because they're so close by. I'm very thankful that they're not on the other side of the country!  Benjamin is working for a non-profit organization in Chattanooga right now.  God has really blessed him by getting him a good job, a good church to be a part of, and two good roommates.  We'll see what the future holds!

My Parents

Well, here are my parents.  A little bit about them.  My dad is a pastor of a Presbyterian church that he started in Dayton 18 years ago.  We have grown from a congregation of a few families meeting at a mental health building, to a congregation of about 300 in our own building on the East of town!  Pretty neat how God had been working.  Before Dad was here, he was an assistant pastor in Georgia and before that he was a youth pastor at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Tennessee (where he grew up).  My Mom has been all over the place.  She was has lived in North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, and now Tennessee.  She went to New York for a while as an actress, but felt God wanted her to do something else so she went to Columbia where she met my Dad when he was in seminary.  They met on a blind date, actually.  Pretty neat.
Though Mom left New York, she has been in several production in Chattanooga and Dayton.  She also wrote and directed the Scopes Trial reenactment in Dayton--the same script being taken and used for a film produced by Bryan College.  She's a great cook, but an even better Mom.
Dad always keeps things interesting at our home.  He enjoyed putting our minds to the test with hard questions and ironic jokes that sometimes take a while to figure out. :-)  Life's never boring when Dad is around, and why should it be?

My Life Here in Dayton

The picture you see is of me, my friend Will Jones, and my friend Jay Carpenter at Will's first birthday party.  Will, Jay, and I have known each other since basically the day we were born (Will moved here a couple weeks after he was born).  And we're still friends!  Friends are a big part of my life, but some other things that are going on in my life right now: I take a class down in Chattanooga on Wed/Fri for about 6 hours each day.  We cover a bunch of different materials (many of the pictures that are posted in the pictures page are from the class).  I also have Nutrition class on Tuesday nights and I take piano lessons on Wednesday nights after my class.  I also play soccer, which will start up in December (for indoor soccer) and February (for outdoor soccer).  Also on Saturdays I clean my church (with the help of my two brothers).  It's been good to have a job and be accountable for my work.  Things start to get intense around April/May area with piano.  I have a piano competition (with Jay, and Will consequently) in Dayton in May, I think.  But I also have one in Chattanooga in April and if I get the highest rating, I get to go to the state competition in May.  I will be probably by adding a second Chattanooga recital to my schedule as well as my senior recital.  So, that's basically my life here in Dayton right now.   Oh, I forgot to introduce you to the sixth member of our family: Casey, our dog.  She's almost 12 I think and she's a mix of golden retriever and chow.  I don't think I've ever met a dog so egotistical in my life (I guess she has to compensate for being the only female in the family besides Mom).

My Future Plans

I'm not exactly sure what God has in store for me in the future, but I have some ideas of what I'd like to do.  I will be majoring in English at Bryan College this coming fall.  I'm also playing goal keeper on the JV soccer team.  I really don't know where God will take my English major, but He's given me a love of writing, so I'm going to try to develop it.  He's also given me a passion for teaching younger kids about Him.  I'm teaching a 5th and 6th grade Sunday School class right now and am loving it.  Who knows?  Maybe I'll end up writing books for kids and working in a youth group or some youth ministry.  I don't know exactly.  What I do know is that I will be going to Bryan College in August, and I'll try to glorify God in whatever I do.  It's an exciting time for me, and I wouldn't mind your prayers!  God bless.
