Be Thou My Vision

This is possibly one of the greatest hymns ever written.  Most of you probably know it, and if you don't, you do now!  It is such a full bodied poem and prayer to our great Father.  It is a love song to God, but it also makes requests to God that He be our Battle Shield, our Wisdom, our Vision.  We are blind, living in darkness, yet God is our vision.  I was reading in 1 John today, and it was talking about walking in darkness and light.  This is a plea that God will be our Vision.  As I said earlier, it is also a love song to God, giving Him great glory.  It talks about our relationship with God.  It gives a very truthful and deep picture of all that God is to us.  It is easy to just read these lyrics and go on your way, but spend some time talking to God about these things and asking Him to be to you all that this hymn says He is to us.  If you don't really have time now, wait until you do have some time.  I really hope God blesses you through this hymn.

Be Thou my Wisdom, Thou my true Word; I ever with Thee, Thou with me, Lord; Thou my great Father, I thy true son; Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one. 3. Be Thou my battle-shield, sword for my fight, Be Thou my dignity, Thou my delight. Thou my soul's shelter, Thou my high tower. Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power. 4. Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise, Thou mine inheritance, now and always: Thou and Thou only, first in my heart, High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art. 5. High King of heaven, my victory won, May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heav'ns Son! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my vision, O ruler of all.
