Heir of the Covenant

This hymn is based off of Psalm 42.  Each verse speaks of something different, yet God is the center of each verse.  The first verse talks about longing and thirsting for God--the verse ending with "When shall I come and see thy face?"  This is what my newest blog post is about.  The next verse is about God's name.  It's about being jealous for His name when others are mocking it, and the days of praising His name in His courts.  The third verse is about not needing to toil or mourn within because God is our help and He is our hope.  We hope and trust in Him and we praise Him for it.  So, I hope you enjoy this hymn, and I hope that you will continue to thirst for God as the hart thirsts for flowing streams:

As the hart longs for flowing streams,
So longs my soul for You, O God. My soul does thirst for the living God. When shall I come to see Your face? My tears have fed me day and night While men have said, “Where is your God?” But I recall as my soul pours dry The days of praise within Your house. Why do I mourn and toil within When it is mine to hope in God? I shall again sing praise to Him; He is my help; He is my God.

When we did home church, we sang a different version of this one. It's a great song.

Every month, I will be posting the lyrics of a hymn as the new Hymn of the Month.  I hope you will read it and try to apply it...hymns are such a blessing, let's not let them go to waste.  My dad suggested something to me.  He said whenever you're down or are facing a temptation, start to sing...so I sing hymns.  There are different types of hymns.  Some for praising God, some about the nature of God, and some about how God relates to His people.  I bet you there is a good hymn for any sort of situation you are in, so I hope the ones I put up here every month will be helpful.  Feel free to comment on any of these hymns and share any insight that you might have.
