Come Thou Long Expected Jesus 12/23/2009
This is the season of Advent--the season where we celebrate Christ's birth. This season we commemorate Jesus' incarnation, and what better way to do that than by a hymn! :-) Here is one of my favorite Christmas hymns and I think one of the best ever written. It tells us who Jesus is, why He came, why we need Him, and provides a plea to Him to rule in us alone. I hope you are blessed by this hymn, and I hope that you have a very blessed Christmas! Come thou long-expected Jesus, Born to set Thy people free; From our fears and sins release us, Let us find our rest in Thee. Israel's strength and consolation, Hope of all the earth Thou art; Dear Desire of every nation, Joy of every longing heart. Born Thy people to deliver, Born a Child and yet a King. Born to reign in us for ever, Now Thy gracious kingdom bring. By Thine own eternal Spirit Rule in all our hearts alone; By Thine all-sufficient merit Raise us to Thy glorious throne.
